Innovator Founder Business Support
Turn your business idea into an endorsement-ready business proposition.
Preparing for the Innovator Founder route takes more than an interesting idea. The business needs a credible commercial proposition, a clear market opportunity, robust financial thinking and a plan capable of demonstrating innovation, viability and scalability.
BizPromptly helps founders develop and strengthen the business behind the application.
BizPromptly provides business and commercial support. We do not provide regulated immigration advice. Where immigration advice is required, we can signpost you to appropriately regulated professionals.
Start where you are
Have an idea but not a complete business yet?
You do not need to arrive with a polished fifty-page business plan. Most founders come to us earlier than that, and part of the work is deciding what the business should actually be. You might have:
- A problem you want to solve
- An early concept or idea
- Relevant industry or sector experience
- A technology or product idea
- An existing service that could be delivered differently
- Several possible business ideas and no clear first choice
- An early MVP or prototype
- A concept that still needs validation
We help you develop and articulate your proposition, but it has to be your proposition. BizPromptly does not invent business ideas or create evidence to support an application, and we do not take over authorship of your plan. You stay closely involved throughout, because you are the person who will need to understand and explain the business.
What a proposition really needs
A business plan is not just a document
It is common to assume the job is simply to get someone to write a business plan. The document matters, but it is only the packaging. What makes a proposition credible is whether the pieces underneath it stand up to questioning.
Before anything is written up, these are the questions that need real answers:
- Who actually needs this product or service?
- What problem does it solve, and how badly?
- Why is the proposition different from what already exists?
- Who are the competitors, direct and indirect?
- How will customers be found and won?
- Why would a customer choose this over the alternatives?
- How does the business make money?
- What does it cost to get started?
- Are the financial forecasts built on assumptions you can defend?
- What resources, people and skills are required?
- What makes the business hard to copy?
- How does it grow beyond the founder?
- What actually happens in the first 12, 24 and 36 months?
- What will the founder personally be doing day to day?
BizPromptly’s job is to help you answer these properly, and then bring them together into a coherent proposition you can stand behind.
The framework, from a business view
Innovative, viable and scalable
Endorsement for a new business focuses heavily on these three things. Here is what they mean commercially, and where we can help.
Innovative
A credible proposition has a genuine point of difference and addresses a real market need. Being new is not the same as being different in a way customers value.
- Articulating the problem and who has it
- Defining the proposition in plain terms
- Analysing the existing alternatives and workarounds
- Mapping direct and indirect competitors
- Identifying where the real differentiation sits
- Testing whether that difference is commercially meaningful
Viable
The commercial plan has to hold together. Viability is about whether the business can realistically win customers and sustain itself.
- Target customers and evidence of demand
- Route to market and the cost of acquiring customers
- Founder capability and the team around them
- Operating costs and the resources required
- Pricing, revenue model and unit economics where relevant
- Key assumptions, risks and how they would be managed
Scalable
A founder should be able to show a structured plan for growth rather than a hope that things take off.
- A growth model and realistic commercial milestones
- Customer acquisition that repeats rather than relies on luck
- Hiring assumptions tied to the plan
- Operational scalability and the systems behind it
- Market expansion, in the UK and internationally where realistic
- Technology strategy where it is part of the model
Endorsing bodies apply their own criteria and reach their own conclusions. This work is about building a genuine, well-evidenced commercial case, not predicting a decision. The official requirements are set out in the GOV.UK Innovator Founder guidance.
The path
From idea to operating business
Each stage builds on the one before it. Skipping the early ones is usually why a proposition feels thin later.
- 01
Idea
The concept, the experience behind it and what you want to achieve.
- 02
Validate
Research and challenge the market, customers, competitors and assumptions.
- 03
Business model
How the business creates value, wins customers and makes money.
- 04
Business plan
The proposition documented clearly and consistently.
- 05
Financials
Forecasts built on assumptions you can explain and defend.
- 06
Growth strategy
A structured plan for scaling beyond launch.
- 07
Endorsement readiness
Preparing to explain and stand behind the business case.
- 08
Build the business
Turning the plan into an operating company.
How we work
Five stages, from first conversation to launch
We can stop after the preparation work, or keep going and help you build the business.
Discover
We get to know you, your experience, the business idea and what you are trying to achieve.
Validate
We research and challenge the proposition: the market, customers, competitors and the commercial assumptions underneath it.
Build
We develop the business model, strategy, financials, operating plan and the supporting business plan with you.
Prepare
We review the whole proposition, identify the weak points and help you prepare to explain the business clearly and confidently.
Execute
Where you want us to continue, we help with company setup, systems, operations, CRM, automation, website and early growth.
For immigration or legal advice on an application, you should speak to an appropriately regulated immigration professional. That work sits outside what BizPromptly does.
Business plan development
We develop the plan with you, not instead of you
The aim is a proposition you understand in full and can talk through without notes. These are the parts we usually work on together.
The proposition
Executive summary, founder and team profile, problem definition, the solution and the innovation proposition, written so a reader understands it quickly.
Market and competition
Target customer, market analysis, competitor analysis and a clear, honest account of your competitive advantage.
Commercial model
Business model, revenue model, pricing strategy and the go-to-market and customer acquisition approach.
Delivery and team
Operations, a technology or product roadmap where relevant, and a team and recruitment plan that matches the growth in the numbers.
Financials
Financial assumptions, forecasts, cash-flow planning and funding requirements that tell the same story as the rest of the plan.
Growth and risk
Milestones, growth strategy, scalability and, where relevant, national and international expansion, alongside a realistic risk analysis.
Market research and validation
Assumptions are weaker than evidence
A proposition built on “we believe” is easier to challenge than one built on research. We can support:
We do not fabricate research or manufacture customer validation, and desk research on its own does not prove demand. Where the evidence is thin, we say so and help you plan how to strengthen it.
Financial modelling
Your numbers should tell the same story as your business plan
Impressive-looking figures do not help if the assumptions behind them do not hold. Forecasts are only as strong as their inputs, so that is where we focus:
These are management forecasts developed with you. We do not provide accountant-certified or audited projections.
Not sure if your idea is ready?
Tell us about the business you want to build: the problem it solves, who it is for and where you have got to. We will give you an honest view of the commercial proposition and what it would take to develop it properly.
Discuss Your Business IdeaScalability and growth
What happens if the business works?
Launching is the start. A strong proposition shows what the business looks like at two, five and ten times the size, and how it gets there:
Endorsement readiness
Prepare to explain the business, not just submit a document
You should be able to talk through the model, the market, the competition, the pricing, the forecasts, the innovation, customer acquisition, the risks and the growth plan. Support can include:
- Readiness reviews of the overall proposition
- A structured review of the business plan and its weak points
- Question preparation across the business model, market and financials
- Mock business discussions and presentations
- Pitch preparation
- A review of the financial assumptions
- Identifying gaps that need more evidence before you proceed
Endorsing bodies do not all follow the same process, and preparation does not guarantee any particular outcome. The purpose is to make sure your commercial case is genuinely ready and that you can stand behind it.

After the plan
A business plan is supposed to become a business
The work does not have to stop at the document. Where it makes sense, BizPromptly can keep supporting the business as it starts and grows: operations, CRM and sales systems, automation, website and digital infrastructure, process design, management reporting and technology implementation.
An important distinction
Business support and immigration advice are different
To be clear about what this service is: BizPromptly develops the commercial and operational side of your proposition. That is business consulting work, and it is what we do.
It is not regulated immigration advice. If you need advice on immigration eligibility, visa application strategy, immigration forms or representations, your personal immigration circumstances, the legal interpretation of the rules, or the submission of an application, that should come from an appropriately regulated immigration professional.
In the UK, immigration advice is regulated. Look for an adviser regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (formerly the OISC) or a qualified immigration solicitor. Where you need it, we can point you toward regulated advice, and we are happy to work alongside the professional you choose.
The official requirements for the Innovator Founder route are published on GOV.UK. Nothing on this page is a statement of official Home Office or endorsing body guidance.
Questions
Common questions
What is the Innovator Founder route?
It is a UK visa route for people setting up an innovative business in the UK. It requires endorsement from an approved endorsing body, which assesses the business proposition. The full, current requirements are published on GOV.UK. BizPromptly's role is the business and commercial preparation, not the immigration side.
What does an endorsing body assess?
Broadly, endorsing bodies look at whether the proposed business is innovative, viable and scalable, and whether the founder is central to it. Each body publishes its own criteria and process. We help you build and evidence the commercial case behind those themes; the assessment and the decision are theirs.
Do I need a business plan?
A clear, credible business plan is central to presenting the proposition, and you will need to be able to explain what is in it. Just as important is that the thinking underneath the plan holds together: the market, the model, the numbers and the growth path.
Can BizPromptly write my business plan?
We work with you to research, structure, develop and document the proposition, and we do a lot of the drafting. What we do not do is hand you a plan you had no part in. You need to understand it fully, contribute to it and be able to defend it, because it is your business and you are the one who will present it.
Can you help if I only have a business idea?
Yes. Many founders come to us at the idea stage, sometimes with more than one idea. We help you explore the proposition, test whether it is commercially meaningful and decide whether it is worth developing further. The idea still has to be genuinely yours.
What do innovative, viable and scalable mean?
In business terms: innovative means a real point of difference that addresses a market need; viable means the commercial plan realistically works, from customers and pricing to costs and risks; scalable means there is a structured plan to grow well beyond the founder. Endorsing bodies apply their own definitions and judgement.
Can you help with financial projections?
Yes. We build management forecasts with you: startup and operating costs, pricing, revenue and growth assumptions, cash flow, break-even and funding requirements. The focus is on assumptions you can explain. These are not accountant-certified or audited projections.
Can you help with market research?
Yes: market sizing, customer research, competitor analysis, trends, pricing research and identifying the evidence that supports your key claims. We do not fabricate research or invent customer validation, and we are honest where the evidence is currently thin.
Can you help me prepare for an endorsing body?
Yes. We run readiness reviews, review the business plan and its weak points, prepare you for likely questions, and run mock business discussions and pitch practice. Endorsing bodies do not all use the same process, and preparation does not guarantee an outcome. The point is that your commercial case is genuinely ready.
Does BizPromptly provide immigration advice?
No. BizPromptly provides business and commercial support, not regulated immigration advice. For anything to do with immigration eligibility, application strategy, forms, representations or your personal circumstances, you should use an adviser regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority or a qualified immigration solicitor.
Can you recommend an immigration professional?
We do not run a formal panel of advisers. We will always recommend using a properly regulated immigration adviser or solicitor, and we can point you to the public register of regulated advisers. We are happy to work alongside whoever you appoint.
Does BizPromptly guarantee endorsement?
No. No one can. Endorsement decisions are made by the endorsing bodies against their own criteria. What we can do is help you build a stronger, better-evidenced commercial proposition and prepare to present it.
Does BizPromptly guarantee a visa?
No. Visa decisions are made by the Home Office and are entirely outside our control and our role. We work on the business case only.
Can you help build the business after the planning stage?
Yes. Where you want to continue, we can help with company setup, operations, CRM and sales systems, automation, website and digital infrastructure, process design and early growth. Several of these are covered by our other services.
How much does Innovator Founder business support cost?
